how much carbon do you run constantly?

i'll try to give a volume to weight ratio:D

i currently run 1KG in 720L but want to know the benefits if different amounts...

wes:D

edit: base on a rough scale, please choose the closest to you tank, also mainly directed to reef's rather than fish only setups:D

carbon will filter out anything in the water down to molecular levels so surely it is bad in a reef tank to have a lot as it will remove the minerals etc??? i can understand using a small amount as it helps stop gelbstrof syndrome which can happen in older tanks but surely having say a reactor full is too much???

I use 70gm in a 350L system (About 1gm per Gal was my rule of thumb).

I nuke mine in the microwave every 2 weeks.
I replace it after 3 "nukings".

Run with no carbon in both my Nanos and my larger tank.

I do use it however when there is a specific need to "clear" something out of the water.

Nuke it in the microwave - well you learn something new every day!
Ok confused whats the score with nuking it and how long do you nuke it for - is this carbon run in a reactor or bagged?

Sorry for all the questions

Cheers

I just have my carbon in a bag in a high-flow area of the sump.

I cook it in the microwave for 8 mins, stir it every 2 mins.
Do it in a pyrex dish with a lid.
Rinse it in RO water before and after.
Don't be too suprised by all the sparking that goes on.

Always used polyfilters instead, I find I can see if they are worn out
