as above..
i add a little squirt every week in theory that it will help towards the filter feeders and any left over will hatch and add to the pod population??
I do, for my seafans and sclerons. I don't think any will hatch out tho...
Yep never use anything else (in the terms of Artemia cysts)and I make my own
my method is posted here on the web
http://oslovet.veths.no/fish/procedures/decapsulation.html
NaOCl is common or garden bleach (Tesco's value bleach, the watery one without perfume or detergent is best )
Keith I find they hatch fine (if they survive the filter feeders skimmers etc)
Do you see them in your tank? I assume that most eggs will get eaten before they have a chance to hatch.
Great Link! Where do normal people get hold of sodium thiosulphate? :D

i turn the skimmer off for a couple of hours and also give a squirt in the sump where the inlet meets the liverock, good turbulance there too..
what else would you recommend for feeding filter feeders??
dendros
sclerons
gorg's
chilli sponge
etc...
What's a Chilli sponge?
Most sclerons and seafans can feed on the same particle foods e.g. reefroids, ultraminF, Ultraseafan, cyclops, artimea, rotifers etc Some can take larger particles than others...it all depends on the species
IMO, Dendros are different. I believe they feed mostly on bacteria, mucus and some particulate foods

tbh i have never directly fed any coral, just let the seio's do the work..
check a recnt thread today, about chilli sponges.

feeding the tank is fine as long as the density and the number of times you feed is enough.
Do you own any of the corals you posted up? or are you just asking?

all of them:D
i have never direct fed any of them and all are doing really well..
do you have any pics of your Dendronephthyas and Scleronephthyas?

very very nice! I love the colour form of your Dendronephthya. Do you have any growth progression photos?
Also, you've never fed these corals anything? never stir your substrate up or blow off detritus off the rocks?
P.s. I will move this thread to the Azoox forum

ok:D
i have never fed these.
ive had the dendro for 3 months maybe??
and the other for 9 months at least..when i first got it it was just the 1 stalk @ about a inch big, now it is budding and the main stalk is about 3-4".
thepic of the two together was taken in the evening at which point they are a bit smaller than normall, i dont know why this is?? and as you can see of a night they close up...
I add De-caps eggs every day, nice dendro's!
Cheers, Shelton.

Chemists (it's also in aqausafe) and most tank de-chlorinators. I've occasionally found adults in the bag filter in the sump

marshalls2007: very interesting, can you post a link to your system description and maintenance routines? What, in you opinion, allows dendros to grow in your tank, while they decline in anothers?
Picking up ideas :)
Thanks.
I started to use decapsulated brine shrimp eggs to the tanks with sclero, chilis, azoa gorgonians, but so far have an impression, that they can't make a significant part of diet. Will use as addition only.

marshalls2007: still, they are growing in your tank, but not in anothers :D and this is a rare occurence. I would really appreciate, if you make a thread about you tank setup and maintenance, like I did ("Hi, I am new here"). One bit of information at the time - it doesn't take a lot of time, and will be significant contribution to the non-photosynthetic keepers community.
The photos of open and healthy dendronephthya corals make me drool, but doesn't provide information for improving their keeping in my tank ;) - you see my point.
Are you using natural salt water?

will do soon mate, but tbh im not very good with long stories etc. i just keep it simple and say how it is:D

Chilis, scleros, diodogorgia, swiftia, guaiagorgia, leptogorgia/elisella, spawning sun - a lot of new colonies, Christmas tree worms. All from ~2-1.5 yrs old and newer.
Failed with: pink sclero, 2 dendros, 1 dmgd blueberry gorgonian.
Scleros and Xmas tree worms are main objects of interest.
About long stories: as long as all essentials are included, the shorter - the better, totally agree. And your personal opinion - what to pay attention too (only not "to the feeding and filtration" :D - too general, zero information).
BTW, have a problem with making skimmer work efficiently. Can anybody help?
In "Hi, I'm new here" thread will be better - not to disrupt this thread.
