View Full Version : skimmer????
when are D&d nano owners getting a skimmer most using tmc one should i just get one ????seems a shame you are behind the game on this you must make a lot of money i feel i have bin sold short
i dont know if i agree with some of the comments above but i would be interested in seeing what d+d would do if a skimmer was planned?
:)
Come on D+D.Help us 24 gal owners. Is there gonna be a compact "in chamber" skimmer for us.I will be looking to buy a skimmer soon,as my tank has finished cycling.Steve.
most of the D+D nano's i have seen have had the lids removed and a HOB skimmer fitted. my mate has got one with a viper light and an Mce 600 skimmer on it, it looks really good.
have to agree with wayne. how can you say you feel 'sold short'. you knew that it didn't come with a skimmer when you bought it didn't you? but i too would like to see a decent one made to fit, preferably from the manufacturer. lots of people are using the TMC one and all they get is a 'weak tea'. i personally think that this is only due to the restricted space available and that the reaction tube cannot be as long as an external skimmers one, thus efficiency will not be as good.
just my thoughts.:)

As you guys know this is a JBJ designed aquarium which works well without a skimmer if reasonable stocking is followed. i have seen many fantastic nano tanks without skimmers where waste transportation is done by regular water changes.
The new 28G nano is coming out soon for those who want a more high tech nano witha skimmer and wavemaker as well as a 150W HQI built into the lid.
I would like a skimmer for the 24 and I have a few options for bubbly tubes which do nothing. If we supply a skimmer it must be effective and we do not have an option at the moment.
What would you pay for a deltec version?
Cheers
Stuart

a 100 quid would have left my pockets if you made one stuart!
not all of us want anything bigger than the nc24 tbh mate?
the new tanks looks good but im really impressed with the results i have got in the one i have.
my old 200 gallon is now a distant memory....as is the amount of kit i used to have to run it.....with a sall fa,ily running around and all the other commitments tbh i haven't got the time
:)
would love to see what you guys could have come up with rather than having to rely on the inferior v2skim that i had to buy.
on the other hand i cant say 'inferior' when i have nothing to compare it to?
:whistling:
i am sorry that i started this thread like i did yes i know it did not come with a skimmer but i did think in time one would come out. i have had my d&d nano 1 year i thought that they would have got a skimmer in the pipeline coz there is a big market is out there and they make top class stuff i love my tank dont get me wrong and once agian i am sorry i started off like i did to all. i would pay what ever the cost for a good d@d skimmer sorry agian i must have had a bad day at work welcome to ultimate reef :o

I personally can see a problem with making nano skimmers. the reality is that they dont skim very well as they are so small so you cant create enough bubbles with a small pump.
I think for small tanks the best nano skimmer would be the old
small air driven skimmers as they product far real smaller bubbles than any nano skimmer .
imo it's the length of the reaction chamber that poses the problem.
however as this is posted in a forum that is sponsored by a company who's mission statement is 'the aquarium solution' i would be very interested to see what they as inovators could come up with.
i have always had a high regard for deltec products and have used them with sucess for many years.
im sure if the r+d dept looked deep enough one of those world famous solutions would be brought to those of us who own the product as not all of us want to go bigger.
:thanks:
