i cant start my mce600, i have tried everything, i have tried filling to till the water runs out of the outlet, i have tried to just above the pump outlet, but it wont start
Does the pump actually start, if not, it may just need a good clean.

Hi,
it is a brand new skimmer just got it on friday,
yes it does start but it is not pumping, i have takenthe pump out to check for damage and operation of the flap and the flap is ok, but i am not sure of the conecting pipe and venturi connector, it is just flopping around, i am sure this should be solid, do you have any ideas

Found the problem, i have just unscrewed the pump locking plate to have a look at the pin wheel and the venturi/connector plate is broken, so much for a new product, this is not good?
how can i get a replacement?

If it was me i would take the whole unit back to where you brought it and get it replaced for another new unit if it was me.
:)
Not sure bud, but I am sure someone will give you a place that sells the spares.
Just done a quick search for you, try the link below,

Or as lost boys says, if you bought it brand new from a supplier, I would return it for replacement.

i will have to do that, but it is going to take ages and i will be out of pocket again, i am getting so fed up with my aquarium costing me money, i might just pack it in
I read on a thread that they dont travel well with the pump installed, not sure if thats how yours came or not (with the pump installed I mean)
But someone did say, if posting a MCE600, to remove the pump as this can break free if it is giving a knock or dunt, possibly whats happened to yours.

Why will it take ages and you will be out of pocket
If you phone Deltec or the supplier you bought it from, they may just send you out another plate, if you are happy enough with that and install it yourself, may save you time and money, which in this hobby is always a bonus. :)

to send the skimmer back it will take 2 days, and i will be out of pocket because i will have to pay the postage, and when i bought it they saide it is the last one they had in-stock

Yes it was brand new and it was delivered with the pump intacked, so i guess it did not travel well

You would hope you would get the shipping money back as it is not your fault or as said they may well just send you the part as this will be easier and the cheaper option as long as nothing else was broken, check the outside for cracks and splits as well just to be safe.
:)
I would go down the route of phoning Deltec on the number that was in the link I posted earlier & explain your situation, and they may just send out the plate.
You can only try, I have heard they have pretty good customer service.

i will ring them tomorrow and see what they say, it looks like the venturi/connector has to come with the locking ring aswell, knowing my luck the pump will be knackered aswell

Take the front plate off as you can and being careful pop the pump into a bucket of water and turn it on briefly and see if the unit pumps, it should still be able to spin the wheel of the pump, if it does not spin the wheel then you know there are other problems.
Be careful though do not stick your finger in where the needle wheel part is as it will hurt.

I can confirm that after close examination of your pictures and after searching the internet............
It's broken :)
Joking aside, they should just send you that bit, if you ask them.

I have never seen that happen before and can not see how it could happen unless it got one hell of a bash in transport.
It is easier to get you a new plate than it is to send the unit back.
Can you email the pictures to me at info@theaquariumsolution.com

Why delete the thread ,this is a good thread and shows how good the service was so others can read and also form an opionon, it may also assit others that perhaps have the same issues in the future to see what course of action they have or can take.
Just my views its totally upto you of course.

I am quite happy - there was a problem - people chipped in and gave advice - we were able to get it sorted straight away without any aggro - problem solved.
I have never seen this issue before but there is always a first time.
People must realise that we are all hobbyists at D-D and we are here to help as much as possible but the first thing to do should be to talk to the retailer as he can get things sorted quickly and easily and is easier to contact most of the time.
