View Full Version : Problem with pin point thermometer
I think I have a problem with my pinpoint theremometer I bought from you a while back. I recently added an ATC300(also from you) which is reading 25.7 degrees, my heater is set to 25 and the atc kicks in and cuts off accordingly. The pinpoint however is showing tank temp 1 degree above the atc display at all times, both probes are on the same side of the tank about an inch apart
wayne i used 3 thermometers and got 3 different results, however what i would say is that, from reading up it appears there is a small % difference between all equiptment including thermometers.
What the consenus i seemed to find was as long as reading from both are the same, so if 1 reads 25 and the other 26 and they both are staying at 25 and 26 respectively, then your water temp is stable, which is what you want.
However i agree with you, its crazy you cannot get a good consistent reading of a simple thing such as temp.

As Ahmed has pointed out, all digital thermometers vary on accuracy. Most are + or - 1C, even though they have a resolution 0.1C. Stability is the key and 1C is either way is very unlikely to cause any problems.

ok, thanks for that guys. I should be happy that they are both stable :)
