View Full Version : Ts1060
Anyone know where I can get a replacement sponge for a TS1060?
Thanks in advance

I would have thought that any shop that sells deltec kit would be able to get you a replacement!
I've been running 2 x TS1060 for several years and haven't needed to replace the sponges to date.

I ordered mine from an online store in Uk (dont know if sponsor) but have been waiting over a month now.
They took the money from my account immediatly but reply with "it can take a while for deltec orderes to arrive" when I ask where they are.
If you do order online, id ring first and ensure they are in stock, or at least that the co concerned dont take your money until the goods are dispatched.
I am currently using activated carbon matting in lieu of the degassing sponge. It works well and is a good safety measure for the ozone I use in the skimmer. I change it about once a week and a £10 sheet (from my local Koi dealer) lasts about two months.

Thanks for your responses guys. I have been told by LFS that it can take up three weeks if coming direct from Deltec.
Do you guys find that the sponge bows out from the force of the water coming out the skimmer?

Yes, it does. Poor design imo. Should have a strap mid way down to give it more support. Super glue a piece of reef safe plastic to prevent it from bowing.
Cheers
I might just have to do that. What are your skimmers like for noise? Is there anything I can do get rid of the vibration noise of the pumps.
I have recently upgraded from the TS1250 and the skimmer is an absolute perfect fit. By perfect I mean another 5mm to the lenght or depth to the footprint and it would not fit in the sump.
Can you imagine my relief when I got it in considering I got rid of the TS1250 beforehand??? :o
As mentioned earlier in this thread i run 2 of the 1060 and newer of the 2 came with an extra plastic strap half way down the sponge to stop it bowing out!
Nav jam for the noise issue you've mentioned the deltec silencer kit that was brougt out for the mce600 fits on the pump and makes quite a difference, if it your rubber bushes that have gone hard!
Andrew
Andrew, don't know what the silencer kit is so will definately need to look into it. By bushes, do you mean the rubber feet. If so they probably have gone hard as the skimmer was not used for six months.
Will hot water soften them up?
Any ideas on where I can the silencer kit from?
Nav
The silencer kit was a pair of red silicon bushes that go on either end of the impellor shaft and a pair of rubber slide in feet to go under the pump so it does'nt resonate against the skimmer body!
I saw them for sale on a web site resently and they something like £2.50 a set, so you'd need 2 sets!
If you can't find them anywhere pm Stuart Bertram on here he works for deltec and is a very nice/helpfull chap!
Thanks buddy I'll sort something out.
....dude, how big is your tank if you're using 2 TS1060's???
My tanks 200 gallons and if you include sumps around 250 gallons tops!
I've found the shop but they are more than i thought: http://www.aquatic-store.co.uk/marine/view/1636
It might be worth ringing a few of the sponsors as i'm sure the ones that sell deltec skimmers could probably get them for you!
250 gallons sounds awesome.
You're a star, thanks for your help, I'll let you know how I get on.
Thanks again.
No problem, hope it does the trick as they are a very good often over looked skimmer!
Managed to find some time to put the dampner kit, works a treat. Thanks to all that helped
:thanks:
I have a few spare sponge filters for the ts1250, are they the same size ??
I ordered a few as could only find 1 online stockist and even then it took 2 months for delivery.

the TS1060 is bigger than the TS1250 which is a shame as I would definately have had it from you :annoyed:
