I have a canon 400D and like the pictures taken when using the predefinded action shot, but also the RAW function of "P" setting. Does anyone know what settings are for the sport shot that i could added to the "P" manual setting. Hope that makes sense.
you basically want to copy the setting of sport in p :) think the sport setting info is in the manual
for a rough equivalent set the camera to shutter priority ( TV on the dial) and then set a shutter speed of 1/100 to 1/125. then increase the ISO until you get an aperture of around f5.6-F8.0 or until the ISO reaches a maximum of 400. this should freeze most fish motionless but still give you a workable depth of field. i am assuming you are using the kit lens. to get really sharp shots buy a 50mm f1.8 standard lens. should be around £50 brand new.

i'll give that a go, basicly I like the fact the on the action setting it compensates for camera movement when taking shots, but it doesnt allow custom W/B and RAW files. I am using a 100mm canon macro lens + the box standard lens.

As Roddy states if you want to fiddle with custom settings like white balance whack her into Shutter priority. If your using a lens with a sweet spot at a certain aperture then you could try AV mode and adjust your iso until you get your target shutter speed(over 1/100 as above).Try not to go too high on the ISO though.
sorry dark i may have misunderstood, i assumed you where trying to take fish shots. if your using the 100mm macro for fish then try using manual focus as the autofocus on macro lenses is not that fast. however an apeture of f4.0 on the macro lens should get be sufficient as it's a better lens.
however i rarly use raw now as you can edit Jpeg's in raw editor under CS3 which is just the business.
