Hi

have rang your customerservices as i did not receive my conversion chart with for either my salinity calibration fluid or my conductivity calibration fluid (for tds meter).

i have manged to figure out that the pinpoint salinity calibration fluid solution thats 53.0mS Is equall to 1.0264

Im really struggling with figuring out what the pinpoint conductivity calibration fluid at 45.0 µS is equal to in PPM

the gentleman who i spoke told me to go to supplers website americamarineusa.com and i could
get a conversion chart there.

well i cant find one, all ive found is a complicated formula.

CONVERSION TO OTHER SCALES OF HARDNESS
33 microSiemens = 17.9ppm
33microSiemens = 1dH (German ° hardness)
1dH = 17.9ppm

to be honest this means nothing to me, im no chemist, im not even sure its relivent :( (im new to SW)and it would be alot easier if i had been sent my Conversion chart with the fluid :annoyed:

can someone please be kind enough to tell me what 45 µS converts to in PPM :D

Without knowing this i cant calibrate my TDS meter :eek: as it only reads in PPM, thus the calibration fluid is useless if i cant convert it to PPM :shocking:

thanks in advance for your help.

:thanks:

hi, this is a useful converter for TDS/EC/Conductivity conversions
http://www.lenntech.com/unit-conversion-calculator/tds_engels.htm

From the calculator 53ms = 33.9 ppm TDS

I'll try and get a conversion chart from the manufacturer for you as they don't supply them as standard any more.

thanks steve i appreciate your help.

its all very confusing, like i said i have tryed to figure it out but its just beyond me.

Its a pain in the A*** that the suppliers dont send out the conversion charts for either of the calibration fluids. :mad:

did you manage to get the charts from the supplier?

It might be worth changing the items pictures on your site because for thickos like me who need a conversion chart it rather misleading ;)

ok back to the main problem.......

I was actually asking about the pinpoint conductivity calibration fluid at 45.0 µS.

Either im reading it wrong or your refering to the salinity calibration fluid.

Sorry if i being thick but from what you said i translate it to be:

QUOTE "From the calculator 53ms = 33.9 ppm TDS"

But the 53mS solution was for the salinity calibration of my refractometer

QUOTE "manged to figure out that the pinpoint salinity calibration fluid solution thats 53.0mS Is equall to 1.0264

So could i use my salinity calibration fluid to calibrate my inline TDS Meter as well :confused: buy calibrating the TDS Meter to 33.9 ppm :confused:

I know salinity, conductivity, TDS etc are all related in some way but ive really havent got the time to get a good enough understanding of it all to feel comftable calibrating my TDS Meter.

If i cant calibrate my TDS meter correctly it defeats the object of buying the meter and the calibration fluid.:(

All i want to do is calibrate my TDS meter so i can get things moving (like filling up 350ltr tank, live rock due at the weekend)

i appreciate you taking the time to reply and posting the above link but can you please just give me a definate figure of TDS for either of the calibration fluids;

pinpoint salinity calibration fluid solution thats 53.0mS (you worked it out at 33.9TDS)

conductivity calibration fluid at 45.0 µS is equal to in PPM (?)

thanks in advance for your help
:thanks:

You can download the Salinity conversion chart for future reference here:

With the 43mS solution you are trying to calibrate a TDS meter and not the Pinpoint conductivity meter for which the solution is designed?

For a TDS meter you are better calibrating it to zero using distilled water. Since that is the reference point that you are aiming for.
