I like two tubes, the KZ Purple and the D&D Blue.

Gives me a good contrast of light in my system in my eyes.

By Deltec, do you mean D-D - they are the distributors for Deltec products - and generally promote Geiseman bulbs?

When I had T5's I liked Giesemann for output of white/actinic and KZ purple for improved colour.

Hagen: never tried
Arcadia: hate them with a passion!!!
Deltec/Giesseman: Love the whites, very crisp. Deltec pure actinic great for fluoresence
Aquamedic: My favourite, the blue is lovely and electric, the whites are fine.
Korralen Zucht: Not tried them, but will do.
FM: Not tried them but have seen them, lovely colours.

I currently only use T5 for actinic supplement, i have 2 x aquamedic and 2 x giesseman actinic pures. the pures fluorece better but give the tank a pink look, which is why i hate arcadias. The aquamedic blues fluoresce sufficiently, but more importantly give a better back ground colour, so the slightly lacking fluorescing is made up by the fact the coral looks better in its blue surroundings rather than pink halo.

just my opinions.

and prices. the price you can get some aquamedic tubes for is incredible, yet others, cost the earth wherever you go.

The tubes are probably made by one of the big boys and stamped accordingly as per order. The colour temperature can vary from different batches. I doubt if any of the names in the poll have manufacturing capabilities for fluorescent tubes.

I use Osram blue tubes (colour 67). mainly because I could not see the difference in the spectral distribution between Osram colour 67 and Philips 03 Actinics

This is true, but i do wonder if perhaps the fauna marin {with the 5p's as it will burn brighter } is the best choice.

The aqua medic may be cheap but do you get what you pay for ?
the same as arcadia and hagen im sure and in that class probably best for you buck by miles, but i cant help wondering if the kz and fm are just better tubes.

time for some par readings me thinks :p

mmm so now the poll takes an interesting turn

should have had the marine lighting ones on tis as well but just thought of it.

arcadia is this as most shops sell them, or out of choice ? or prehaps just replacing whats in the unit ?

when i just saw the arcadia voting i thought 'yeah, thats from people that haven't used anything else'.

maybe i am wrong but i highly doubt that an arcadia user, that has seen the competition, would not only stick to arcadia, but also class them as their favourite.

have added marinelux for you wills, tho it may be a little late in the day.

I have used the actinics and liked them very much, they were not dissimillar, for me at least, to aquamedic actinics. that lovely electric blue colour.

I voted Hagen :o, because I didnt like how sharp and the green tinge to the Arcadias I bought last time. I prefer the more mellow blues and purples of the Hagens, and when my arcadias failed after 8 months last time, and I popped some old Hagens in, I had forgotten how nice the colour balance was.

D+D whites - they completely outperformed the Arcadias they replaced and give a nice crisp white. Marine Lighting actinics - very powerful and great colour.

I've only tried 3 - Aqua-Medic, Arcadia and Marinelux. Marinelux is my preference of the 3.
