as per my other thread.
im going after a 400d.

now the plan was to go to the canon refurb dept that was greatly talked about a while ago, but i think they have pulled it.
which leaves very expensive retail or ebay.

i brick it when ever i use ebay as i`ve been stiched up so many times, i`ve lost count.

any suggestions, my thinking is with them having enough returns to open a refurb dept, warrenty is very important it you catch my drift.

would love to hear of your opinions and experiences

got my 40D off ebay for a good price... turned out to be a Jap import though (ad was very cleverly worded). I had to download an english manual as a pdf and buy an adapter for the charger (£2). Still worth the saving IMO.

Because of the 450d arrival, loads of online retailers are doing some great deals plus cashback offers on the 400d Tony.

Its worth a hunt round the online shops.

Tony that ebay link was for body only but you may have already clocked that.
Here's a link to a very trusted ebayer
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRAND-NEW-CANON-EOS-400D-REBEL-18-55MM-KIT-SCOTLAND_W0QQitemZ140223486662QQihZ004QQcategoryZ3 1388QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Word of warning though, all imported cameras wont be covered by canon under warranty. They do except imported lenses though with reciept.Doubt if you will get any cashback either.
I got my 40d from Park cameras, they are usually very good on price.

Tony, I dont have time to compare prices against all the other options listed but look up 'Kerso' on ebay. He's prolific on other forums, is based in the UK and provides an invoice so Canon Cashback works, he also offers cheaper prices if you contact him directly (around a tenner off his ebay prices) and responds quickly.

I bought over 500 quids worth of stuff off him last week and has been a great guy to deal with. I usually hate ebay as much as you (avoid it at all costs) but knowing how much positive feedback he gets elsewhere (POTN for eg) I knew I could trust him. :D

Jeff.

Edit: lol must type quicker!

hope i've caught you in time billy.

go to jessops and take this page with you.

file:///C:/Users/Roddy/AppData/Local/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image002.jpg http://www.jessops.com/Store/s35964/0/Digital-SLRs/Canon/EOS-400D-(Black)-%2b-EFS-18-55mm-Lens/details.aspx?&IsSearch=y&pageindex=1&CatId=481&ManIds=1159,&SortBy=SkuOfferingPriceASC&IsInStockOnly=False&comp=n (http://www.jessops.com/Store/s35964/0/Digital-SLRs/Canon/EOS-400D-%28Black%29-%2b-EFS-18-55mm-Lens/details.aspx?&IsSearch=y&pageindex=1&CatId=481&ManIds=1159,&SortBy=SkuOfferingPriceASC&IsInStockOnly=False&comp=n)

they will price match there own website if they are not that price instore.

saves any hastle with warrenties etc.

you will eventually get your £45 back from canon as well.

there are also bundles with a tameron 70-300 included. it's not as good as the canon but will do just fine for the GP.

Just noticed you can collect instore and if you buy online you get a free camera bag worth £50.

You won't get it much cheaper online and you have no warrenty issues from jessops.

I just parted £369 for a Canon EOS 30D, i was bricking it too as it's alot of money to send to the other side of the country

The seller has x2 neg feedbacks, but i took a risk. Turned out to be awesom, brand new and delivered next day! Sometimes you just gotta grab the bull by the horns
