View Full Version : Oldest fish in the box...
There are years and years of experience on UR and often is the case a fish dies from one problem or another. What is the longest lived fish in your aquarium and for how long did you have the fish for?
:thanks:
Tank is only 6 months old but have a pair of ghost carp in the pond that have been around for going on 11 years now if memory serves, it could be longer
I have got a yellow tang and a clown fish that is going into there 4th year.

I have a single chromis in his sixth year in my care (previous owner had him for a year though I believe), a cherub angel the same, and a marine betta in his fifth year. :)
have only been doing marines since september so 7 months (hmm thought it was longer than that )

Only had marines for 4 years, but my Regal Tang was a couple of years old when I got it. Also got a single Chromis that's about the same age.
i remember valleyboys yellow tang celebrating its 10th birthday last year.
clowns/regal tang/yellow tang, all 6 years with me.
Only kept marines for about two years, but I hope the ones we have last a long time.
My oldest goldfish when he died was fifteen, and for the last few years he was completely white (piscine equivalent of grey hair I presume)
I have had a pair of clowns for 11 years. My majestic Angel I will have had for 8 years in August (found the book the other day where I wrote when I got it).
i have had a goldfish at my mums old house survive now for 18yrs!:D and he has a bit of a bent back. he is huge but happy!:D and no its not the whole new fish when it dies thing....my mum hates fish, if it died she'd have a party not get a new one!
Yellow Tang 5 years, first marine fish I brought:)
I'm loath to say it, as when I was boasting last year about my yellow assessor being 11 years old, he disappeared that week:eek:, but I have a common clown who's a lot older than that.:whistling:

My goldfish from about 1989 won from a fair in my mum and dads pond, probably was a year old then

The shop I used to work at, a well known one in Hampshire, has a display tank that housed a coral beauty that was around 18 years old when it finally disappeared. It also has a huge rose anemone (i think) that is still going strong and around 16/17 years old. I used to point out to customers that the coral beauty was older then one of the members of staff!!
Had my clown for 14 years, and many of my other were added to my current tank when it was set up 6 years ago (3 Regal tangs, 5 of the 6 Yellow tangs, an anthias, Flame angel, bangai cardinal and probably a few more)
Considering i've only been going for about 2.5 years, i have a pair of clowns that are over 2 years old.
Had my blue throat trigger for about 18 months.
I've only been keeping fish for 3 years and the first fish I bought is still going strong, although he did go blind in one eye a year and a half ago but it's never seemed to bother him.

My royal gramma (now residing in a friends tank in the UK) is 14 my YT and female false percula are 8 & 9 respectively
Only been keeping marines for about a year and a half , but i keep goldfish as well ..

I've had many fish go into their 6th year, but only one has been with me over 7, my Centropyge bispinosus. He has survived, Cryptocarion 5 or 6 times, Amyoodinium, tank crashes, bullies, etc and looks gorgeous. He is the surviviour of a group of three and was the smallest of the group!
Other longlived fish have been P. annularis, A. tricolour, Rh. quesita and Ct. striatus.
one of my origional first clownfish. getting on 5 years :)
Had a flame angel in my old FO for 7 years (and was adult when I bought him) - he'd still be going now, I'm sure, but for a nasty whitespot outbreak.
