hi been trying to get decent tank photo with my macro lens to no avail so thought would try it outside to see if it is the glass or the lens. seems like it's the glass..

hi Alan,
took over 100 shot but as i was only holding the camera , too lazy to get tripod out to be honest, and in macro photoghraphy thats not the way was also in auto focus as it was moving around quite fast...i did get quite a few good shots this one being the most interesting. here is another one just cropped it a bit ................len:thumbsup:

As you say, its is difficult to get a good picture with a bow front tank as the glass distorts the image. You have to hold the lens at excatly 90deg to the glass to get the best but it won't be perfect.

Even on a flat glass tank, you have to take the picture at 90deg to the glass or it will distort the image.

IMO it's probably not the glass but the available light. A macro outdoors is far easier to execute than one in the subdued lighting of a tank.

PS: Nice pics!
