I am no expert in photography but what setting would you recomend on the Exp +/- setting on my mrs little nikon coolpix L4 camera (ranges from +2.0 / -2.0)

i take it i should turn flash off, and i have set White Balance to incandescent.

You only adjust the exposure compensation if the built in meter is being fooled buy a none standard scene

If the pictures are dark then go to the plus side, if they are to light then go to the minus side. How much depends on how light or dark your pictures are.

And yes try it without flash but leave WB on auto.

hi most of the time you would leave the exp +/- in the 0-0 position. you will only need to adjust it if your photo's are coming out too light or too dark. if you take a pic of say your back yard with a bright sky in the picture it can come out too bright or too dark. check it in the preview and if it is this is when you would alter it. mainly in aperture priority mode. too bright set to -/ev too dark use +ev and reshoot. keep adding or subtracting ev untill you get the exposure you are looking for. reset to 0 when you have finnished so you are ready for the next time. i think this is right...white balance is best left in auto for most cases and incandesent is for candle light situations i believe ... hth ...len
