Ive got a canon s80
its a compact but has pro features

Can someone tell me please how i can get shots of anything in the tank that is directly under the MH

everything looks fine but i get a white out affect or overexposed where the light is directly on the sps -

heres a pic to show you what I mean..

im not expert but know my way around enough to change settings on the camera

at the moment i use the scene setting for 'underwater' which makes the colours more accurate but doesnt help with the white out affect...

If the camera has spot metering try hovering the centre of the viewfinder over the white tips and hopefully the camera will expose the tips correctly. You can then do some post processing to lighten the rest of the shot up a tad.

Looks like you're also shooting through the glass at an angle. Thanks to the difference in refractive index of the air/glass/sea water you'll never get things in focus!

In short, make sure you're at 90 degrees to the glass!

ah yes thanks that was a poor shot - but your right i normally use manual focus on it anyways ...
