so this is to give me an idea on where we could meet 4 a 1st meeting to say hello, introduce each other etc.
How about a Saturday morning in one of the LFS's, maybe going on to the other afterward - nothing too formal or heavy, just putting a few faces to names (real ones not forum names!!!). Then, if we all get along (which there is no reason why we shouldn't) it can develop whatever way people would like (just a pity you'll miss out on all the pub meets Stevo:D)

The pub is a good idea as it's a relaxed atmosphere where you can have a good chat about yourselves and what you want to achieve without any distractions

saturday morning is a good idea, i just need 2 have about a weeks notice so i can get it off work

I would be a little concerned about a LFS as they will try to sell sell sell and I may not want to buy buy buy:D This said I will go with the flow.

I was in both shops today got a lovely shrimp goby pair in EA :wub:. I was a little worried about some of their fish one was half eaten:mad:. James is a dead on guy helped me with my nano and skimmer today. Asked him about club he said he would be interested himself but not with EA whatever that means.:o Got a coulpe of frags from GT and a peppermint shrimp hope it sorts out a few aiptasia i have:dance: .The idea of the club is to help each other out wit problems e.g. aquadorge with my sump when i get my betta lifespace. Share ideas maybe some frags and generally get to know each other. Noticed the guys in liverpool were getting together to bulk buy Nori things like that would be good
By the way i agree with not differentiating between the shops. Dont forget there is a guy in warings town with a marine section. Where is warings town?:confused:

I would hope that the purpose would be that we could sell each other stuff and swap items also like frags etc. This is why I am a bit apprehensive about meeting in a LFS. Getting a club together is a way of us trying to cut our costs a little:)

Agree totally. Guys with frags can make a few quid and those without can save some:thumbsup:

thats exzactly wat i want 2 do!! but we wont always be in ea may once every 2 months or so!
basically all we would be doin in goin 2 fish shops, would be- meetin up, having a nosey, buy things mayb and then go 2 some1s house and view their tank if they are willing! i know i would have no problem with it, as long as 2 many arent goin

James was really busy so never got the chance, just got some airline and Formalin to dip a tang I'm QT'ing for a friend. I'll maybe call in during the week (I only live a mile away), he has always said he would be interested in a club personally, but would not want to involve the shop in any official capacity - a club would be welcome to meet there on occaision during normal opening hours, but I suppose it's no different to a group of mates landing in
ok ive gave it just under 1 week, and i have 10 people intrested so shall we get a date arranged?

I spoke to James today and he is happy enough for us to meet at EA on the 31st. This will obviously have no direct link with the shop, just really a get together of NI reefers and the convenience of his shop for a 'meet'. Looking forward to it, see you guys there :thumbsup:

that he thinks its brilliant as a hobbiest, but he does not want his name attached to it on a professional level, its an independant club which just happens to meet in EA, james wants to be involved as a reefer but not as a shop owner.
i think hes being rather dead on about it all, i got a lovely pair of wild caught clowns and a featherduster off him the other day.

Sorry i couldnt make it today had prior commitments, but of course i want to be involved. We need to get our own section on this forum (or our own forum) so we can talk more about stuff, ive some ideas.

All the credit has to go to Stevo. Indeed it was good to meet everyone it was just a shame i didnt have time to make it up to davids house to see his tank. Next time defo. Glad to report that my goby is settling in well, feeding:thumbsup: and has paired up with the shrimp:wub:.

there is no way i can take all the credit, beech did loads to sort a date out, and encourage people to be there, glad to hear that ur new arrival has settled in and has paired

James said it was a yellow tail. Have to look it up. Its getting one the best.

I am in the middle of buying shops so am flat out busy. Any chance we could make it a sunday or an evening? By the way the tank has landed in EA will be up around 2pm to pay for it. One of my snails died the other is fine. Should i ask james about a replacement? With one surviving i must have acclimatised them ok

nothin yet i need to arrange a date with frank so that he can attend!
as for a venue, probably the same place unless GT would be willing to have us also after this next meet i would like to hopefully organise a trip to a house. as long as some1 dosent mind putting up with a group of reefers invading their house.
also would like to look into organising a bbq or somethin if we get nice weather

Yea had a test drive in one last and was very impressed with it, in my opinion the best colour in it is Alpine White

im from ballymena and i have a 24g nc currently awaiting a 150w halide in the post then a big rescape will be taking place and hopefully some sps going in there. i also have a 16l pico work in progress im trying to get a design for a sump to work into a stand i am planning on having built that will have a bit up over the tank to house a 70w halide.

how about going on payday, 31st july or soon after?? im usually skint by the last week of the month, i wanna buy some live rock at a meet but my saving skills are crap lol
Problem is that the 31st is a Thursday and none of the shops open late, plus some people (particularly Beech) have a distance to travel. Just hit the plastic fantastic and pay it off come payday!!
