Nice pics. Not to make anyone jealous but i work on a nature reserve once a month and last month got to help do some nest box checking. Guess what i got to hold?:pTawny Owl baby. Have got pics on my phone but can't get them on computer.

Get foxes, hedhehogs and bats in the garden, only ever seen 1 or 2 owls flyiing over.

Ross-we have a few BIG scots pines in the garden and my wife's uncle is a serious twitcher, so when he asked what we would like as a moving in prezzy so we said 'nest boxes but not the usual blue tit ones.' We ended up with two huge boxes made of scaffolding planks (plus some others), which we put into the pines. Apparently if you put two up the owls will choose one-if you only put one up the owls will ignore it:confused::confused:

Awww aint they cute! These gits used to wake me up every night as soon as I'd drifted off. I used to sleep with the window open and they would sit literally 2m away and screech allllllllllllllllllllllll night long. :laugh:

Thats great Haydyn! I would love a garden like that. I've never actually seen a Tawney owl,ive heard them,but never seen one. We get lots of barn owls round here and I've seen Short eared owls too. I used to be well into birdwatching,still have a very keen interest. We had a Kestrel nest box at my grandads house,they used to nest every year,the babys are so cute. Those owlets are WELL cute though. Congrats! :)

im very lucky in that my parents have barn owls nesting and theyve had a camera in the box for several years (even beating bill oddie to it!) every year the owls manage to raise up to 7 youngsters... a very large number by all accounts... its amazing in that you can just sit in the conservatory and watch the parents go hunting in full view behind the house.... an awesome sight
