they are cracking photos!! i love the lighting on the green fly...given me some inspiration to head into my garden... just got to wait for the lawn to dry out a bit first! lol

You're right - the sap-sucking insect inside is called a froghopper! I think the "spit" is a defence against predation. Nice! :D

Aperture 8.0 - 13
shutterspeed 1/100-1/160 i think as i was messing about with the shutter speed on and off to adjust the ambient light.
manual mode
580 ex II used off camera
tripod
21mm extension tube used on 100mm canon macro
some cropping and unsharp mask

Thanks Tony that's really helpful - stupid question but when you use your flash off the camera do you mount it on a second tripod or just hold it?

The green fly is my favourite.

Do you have a wifi flash trigger or is it just an extension lead form the camera.

Just an ETTL lead Dave,a Jessops branded one.Seems to work fine although a little short so would like the wireless trigger.
