Went to the coast

Thought I would try to capture a few pics, after seeing the sea was quite rough the other day. The first two pics, I feel I could have done with a longer lens and being further back to make the waves in the background look more impressive breaking on the harbour

Third pic I'm quiet happy with, but this side of photograph is quite new to me.

I have always wanted to focus (no pun intended) on the power of the sea. So any advice on any of the pics is more than welcomed:)

What you shooting with?

if you are trying to shoot breaks, try and ger perpendicular to the break, i.e. along a pier or similar. For the impressive captures of breaks, you need a bit of patience, luck and a fast shutter speed. Example (not mine, but in tynemouth where i live)

Try also with a tripod (if you can, if not a stable table/wall) and a long shutterspeed, watch those waves disappear into a silky haze.

Also, a simple tip (it bugs the life out of me now, because i know about it) if you have a horizon in a pic ... get it straight! ;) :)

Hi claude,

I was using my Canon 400D with a Tamron 28-75 f,2.8 which I'm borrowing.

Taken a 1/1000 sec, f7.1. I realise I should have probably achieved a better shot with the equipment:o but I'm looking to improve:).

I will probably be buying a tripod in the next week so I will have a play with that soon:) and will also set a bit of time aside next time and try to possition myself better. Thank you for the tips:worship:

And furface, sorry, no barnacles as the wife was waiting in the car to be dropped off at a friends:rolleyes:.
