View Full Version : ATC 300 faulty?
Hi there,
I just got an ATC 300 from you, I'm not sure if it's working correctly?
I have the temperature set to 25, it seems to switch the heater off when the tank temp reaches 24.8.
However it doesn't seem to switch it on until the tank temp drops to 23.8 and then it kicks off an alarm.
Does this sound like expected behaviour?
regards,
Greg
I think these have what they call a '1 degree swing' i.e. the temp can fluctuate 1 degree before it will turn the heater on and off.
Try setting the alarm temp to -/+ 2 degree's it should stop the alarm sounding. Personally i have mine set at 26 with a +/- of 2.
I may not be the best person to offer advice though as mine has just started turning itself on and off.
yup, the 1 degree swing is what I expect, it it should switch heater off at 25, on at 24, and hence I should never hear an alarm.
however it appears 0.2 out, so it's not switching the heater on untl 23.8, and the alarm is hence going off. It then switches the heater off at 24.8, not 25....
If I set it to -/+ 2 degrees then my tank temp is going to swing by that amount, which I'd prefer not to happen! ie drop to 23, switch off at 25....
regards,
Greg
My ATC 300 only reads in .3 deg, ie 26.2, 26.5, 26.8 and so on, so just cause it says 24.8 it may well be 25 deg.
I've spoken to Reefdreams and sorted it out :)
By default the atc 300 has a 1 degree offset for switching the heater on/off. You cannot change this.
The thing you can change is the offset for when the alarm triggers, so by setting that to 2 I should thus avoid any more 5am false alarms.....

greg

Hi Greg,
Good to talk to you today, I hope that now resolves the issue. (I'll leave the phone off the hook in case you call me at 5am to say it didn't)
I completely missed this thread, we are so busy that getting on here is a struggle.
Steve
