Hi,
I am after a good macro for my canon 400d. I just bought a 500mm telephoto lense so haven't got to much to spend. I was looking at the tamron 90mm it is a little pricey but i can get staff discount on it from a friend at jessops.:D But is there any lenses on par with the tamron for a cheaper price.
Thanks,
Luke

By on a par I guess you mean similar quality, if so then the answer is no, apart from Canon's own lens (which is more expensive) the Tamron is the best on the market. Get your mate in Jessops to get a selection for you to try on your camera (in the shop of course) and see if you are prepared to accept the lower quality cheaper lenses.

The tammy is about the best Macro out there for its money.

If you don't mind second hand, have a look for the older Canon none USM lens.

They are cracking lenses and a good price because of the lack of USM, which in reality should not effect its use as you shouldn't be using auto focus in Macro photography anyway.

Other than that in real therms anything from Canon, Tamron or Sigma will far exceed your needs.
