View Full Version : mp40w keeps falling off

hi folks

is there any reason a new unit set at the recommended spacing should keep falling off the glass? I've tried it at the next spacing to get some more grip. It held for a couple of weeks but has now started falling off again.

tank is 10mm glass, no creatures that would interfere with the pump

does this indicate dodgy magnets, can I do something to sort it out?

any help appreciated, ta

have you got it running on pulse by any chance?

I had a similar prob with one...have you checked the propellor spins freely?

I found my problem one wasn't spinning as freely as the others, a quick adjustment of the wet side prop screw did the trick for me.

pump is in lagoon mode I think

will re-examine it this weekend re the propeller , thanks for that advice

Jez, I read somewhere about some new improved components and a driver upgrade being available for the vortech. Are these bits compatible with the older style pumps and am I likely to be able to get a driver upgrade at STM at all?

HI
Yes we have yet to upgrade the pump at STM but should be able to do yours once that is done takes about 5 minutes over the wireless.

I had Ecotech out with me thursday friday and we upgraded a number of pumps to Gen 2 specs. Should have this up and running along with magnet upgrades in the next couple of weeks.

thanks Jez

just to update re the original problem

it seems the retaining screw was in fact a bit too loose. Tightening seems to have sorted the problem. I've left the spacing on 1/2 inch for now, although the glass is 3/8 inch. I'm assuming this won't do any harm.:)
