Can you believe we're starting of in the second half of 2008 already? Where is this year going!!
We've had some absolute cracking tanks so far and we're continuing right where we left off. For the most part tanks tend to favour one flavour or another. Mostly LPS, mostly SPS, mostly fish.... this months is a real mixed bag of everything! Once again though simplicity is the key to this system - an approach that is becoming more and more accepted as time goes on.
Anyway... enough from me... lets get on and read about Jons system - congratulations Jon.

I was really impressed with this tank when the setup photos were first posed. It has developed into a really good healthy looking tank (with a familiar looking gorgonian ;) )
Well done
Quite clearly a gent and legend, the thought and quality of your reef are inspirational and well considered

hi,jon, just like to say super tank and setup,7 months ago i set up 2 8x2x2.5 tanks running in tandem and wiyh so much bad advise from local dealer"dont always put your faith and moneyin the hands of so called profesionals" i have lost thousands of pounds in fish and corals, hopefully just getting it right now, anyway, are you running ozone on your system to get your redox so high and what are these cemicals you are adding to your system, never heard of them before, malc.:thanks:

Sorry to hear about being stuffed over there mate:(i know what u mean about those dealers i have been to a few and it is very hard to know who is telling the truth when u have just setup and not really sure what u are on about to start with.
The only time i used ozone is when i had an outbreak of white spot a year ago now as mentioned in write up,i guess the water quality is very high hence redox reading of 470 now,u have to be careful though its not always best to strive for good readings on electric gadgets :eek:with out first looking at tank inhabitants and seeing if they look all healthy.A high redox can also mean a low Ph so u have to see what suits ur tank a bit to be fair.I have a very large skimmer on my system, quite a low stocking level and run carbon 24/7 and i have started using Biodigest, and Bioptim to help with bacteria and food sources etc.
I'am not sure what u mean by cemicals do u mean "chemicals" the only ones i add are Lugols solution a concentrate iodine,Magnesium two part, and Grotechs trace elements which i have stopped using because i can see no benefit from them.Hope this helps
cheers Jon
wow congratulations its a very nice tank :D:eek::thumbsup::worship::wub:
envy..thats the first impressn when i saw it..haha..anyway jon, may you give me a sketch of your piping work? really have a hard day with my pipe work..dont know where to go
Thanks for all nice comments on entire thread again,as regds to pipe work its easier if u cut it all dry first thats if u using rigid abs pipe, and join it all up with out glue and really go from there. If its joints and fittings u are having probs with best talk to ur LFS to be honest as every tank is different it really is quite easy if u just give it some thought to start with and go from there.
