No its not the latest budget airline but something that strangely wanted to pose for me for half an hour or so while I took loads of rubbish, but managed to get this one as well -

Tamron 90mm with a Kenko 2x converter, taken raw and PP in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop
Ok, well actually the fly was 20ft tall and I had to use a wide angle lens :p

Approx 50% the DOF is very narrow at these magnifications so I cropped out the body which was out of focus.
This is another of the same fly, about 70% of full frame-

I wont ask what you smeared there to keep him still, superb pic Dave!!!!
They are amazing!
Superb.
Dave,
Nice work indeed. Were you using a macro tripod head at all or just very patient with the set up?
Makes me want to add an MPE-65 to the shopping list! :D

Tripods are for pussies  just took lots of shots hand held in good natural light.
I'd love an MPE-65 but they are a bit pricey,
Great pics, amazing creature. Kinda makes me want to go and buy a newspaper, not The Sun of course, that's not even worthy of swatting a fly with.
What kind of fly is it?
Question - I took this pic using a Tamrom 90mm with a 2x converter, the Tamron is a 1:1 lens, does the converter make it a 2:1
The MPE-65 can do 5:1, if you then stuck a 2x converter on would that then be a 10:1?
