View Full Version : Slides
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but thought i'd give it a go anyway!
My mum has got loads of old slides of the family and stuff and wants to convert them from slide format to photographs or preferably just get them onto a computer.
Does anyone know if there is a way of doing this? And if so, how?? Would be really grateful for any advice!!
Yes there is. Some pretty basic scanners come with the ability to scan slides - and there are also specialised slide scanners, which can scan negatives but these are very expensive (well, they were close to £2K when I looked at them several years ago - suspect they're a lot cheaper now).
I'm not up to speed on what's available nowadays but as per everything with computers I suspect it's a lot cheaper and quicker than it used to be!

Yup,you can buy a flatbed scanner that will scan negatives and slides, just Google for one.
A couple listed here that say they scan film, which i presume is negatives/slides

We bought a canon scanner for Roddy's Dad a few years back. He spent months scanning in all his old slides. It did negatives too. It was less than £50 and we bought it from Pixmania so deffo easily available and fairly cheap.

no need to buy anything just go to your local LCE or Jessops if they are not able to scan your slides they will send them off to those who can and you'll receive back the CD or you can also ask them to print them:)
unless it is really loads and buying scanner would be cheaper:confused:
Cool, cheers for all the help guys. Me mother will be chuffed! She's got hundreds of them so i guess i'll get the fun job of scanning them all in if she gets a scanner!!
