Apologies if this is already available on UR but are there any plans to do to a simpletons or beginners guide to photography??

I've recently bought a bridge camera which has full manual mode to try and learn a bit before diving in at the deep end with a full DSLR.

I've been reading online for weeks and just generally seeing what happens if i amend certain settings but would love to just find a simple guide that explains all the terms of photography. A bit like a glossary i guess. I can't seem to find anything online that explains to me what happens when i change certain settings and what settings i would need for certain shots.

Just an idea but may be quite useful. Alternatively if anyone can suggest a really good site for a complete novice i'd be grateful!

Regards,
Esme

Go on You Tube, type in camera make and tutorial, plenty of video's showing you how to use the various functions.

good book on macro photography is the one by john shaw i think its called 'closeups in nature', it might not be very much for beginners but its simple enough and explains a lot of basics:)

Cool, cheers guys. Will check both of those out! Looked at Jim's link and the layout looks rather familiar!

Iain, never really thought of Youtube so will take a look at that as well!

Have you looked at the Royal Photograhic Society website? Some serious guys and gals on there could point you in the right direction.
