View Full Version : which colour?
tell me what colour you like the back of your tanks? i have blue on one of my tanks and black on the other? some people say that black high-lights the corals more, but on a big tank i think that it could suck colour out? what do you all think?
Black - check out Sevie Mc's tank - 72x27x30, black background and looks stunning
got to be black, all my tanks are black and it looks the nuts, corals and fish look alot brighter.

Mine is going to be Blue like the sea near brighton beech
Blue for me it's like the ocean continues into the background
i'm going to do my new tank a sort of navy blue.
Couldnt decide between bright blue or black, so i went half way :D

mine is a dark navy blue and looks brilliant!
it makes the tank look deeper and richer..
that said, the colour looked completely different painted on the back of the tank, than it should have, so it was actually a really dark, blue green, almost black when wet, and dried to give the rich looking navy blue...
so i had to mix up a lot of test batches first myself!
Mine's Blue at the moment, but think on the next tank its gonna be black :D

Blue, because it looks like the ocean's waters.

Black for me, just changed from blue and the fish look much brighter !
Mine starts at the top navy blue and turns to nearly black at the bottom, I quite like the effect.

I voted for blue, personal choice, but i think it looks best.
I've had both and like them both. I think blue looks best of kept clean but black looks best if allowed to stay dirty.

i have seen a fish tank background painted black going to navy then to blue then to ocean blue looked amazing fading into each other with balack at the bottom
black for me i think it brings out the colours of the fish and corals
Black for me, I tend to think that blue washes colours of corals/fish out a bit. Black makes the coraline really stand out imo
Black for me, as well as making coral and fish colours stand out it's also great for camouflaging any ugly cables to powerheads etc. Once you go black you never go back! :D
My tanks a black Juwel but black doesn't go with my walls or carpet so the glass stays clear!
Bare, I like the coraline algae to cover it.
black
it makes the fish and corals look better
I've let is blank- not on purpose may I add. Just stupidly forgot to add background to the tank when filling up initially!
Though now, I have lovely red coralline algae growing as a background!
Got to be blue IMO, far more natural than black.
