I have 2 fujipix F10 's.
one used for normal day to day/ holiday photos, and one in a fuji underwater case.
This way i dont have to refit the camera in the case (and risk a leak and dead camera) every time i go in in the water.
Both take good quality pics and the fuji underwater case gives control of every button and lever on the camera.
Sadly neither of these items are still available new, but do come up on ebay (cheap).
I bought the first camera new around 3 years ago (£100 ish), bought 2nd camera £35 and underwater case £45 from e bay and both were mint.

Nath getting it from onestop digital around £800-845. their price changes daily as they under cut everyone else.
I`ve used kerso before and great service and was going to be the place to get it until I found it on onestop.

Have you tried the sigma 17-70mm, i'm not saying its L glass quality but it's not L glass prices either, the new version has HSM and it can do 1:2.3 macro which is pretty good. It's the lens i dive with as it's cheap and incredibly versatile(you will never use the kit lens again). With the money you save you could upgrade the sigma to a canon 70-300mm IS (might just be my favorite lens, pin sharp and light to carry as well) i bought one to travel with and was intending to upgrade it to a Canon 70-200mm F4 IS but it's so good i don't see the point.

Agree with Roddy,i couldnt believe how good the lens was when i first used mine. Some of the best pics i have taken have been with this lens.
Frogfone
Don't waist you money on the 17-40L. its the worst lens in the L range and mine was a bit of bottle glass with low contrast and low definition, when I asked why this L lens was so bad I was told its because I bought the cheap lens, sould have bought the 16-35 (600 a cheap lens) not in my book.
Awful lot of Canon gear in this list. We must be a bunch of Amateurs LOL
here's mine, not everything goes with me all the time though as it's just too damned heavy!

Couldn't agree less, sorry. I've had mine for over 12 months and it still manages to astound me as to how sharp and well defined it is.
Unfortunately, even with L glass, there is always variance in performance between like lenses. You always however have the option of sending the lens to Canon for calibration. It's not ideal I know but sometimes you have to do these things.
Clearly it doesn't have the extra stop of the 16-35 but I certainly wouldn't discount it. If fact in some tests it out performs the 16-35. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. Plus you can pick the 17-40 up for ~£400 from the usual suspects!
just the old 300D in my bag, 18 - 55 canon, 70 - 210 canon, 50mm canon. Still got some bits and bobs like cokin filters gathering dust with my 35mm slr equipment. Not sure i'll be putting any money into photography in future. Although i've been a keen photographer for many years, the move to digi has had me settle for snap shots now. In the days of film i really thought about a shot before hitting the shutter. Today it seems common to shoot a million in the hope that one will work. Not the same beast these days.
This may take a bit of thinking.

I think that is it, without emptying it all.
I must confess though, that 9/10 times I carry the D20 and lens on their own the bag very rarely goes out these days.
Now everybody has listed what they carry around with them, who do we knock off first??? :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

I agree, some of the fun has gone from photography, it seem this format has caught up with the rest of society, it is now a throwawy mentality, I am thinking of joining a photography club, to see if I can re-invent the joy it once held

Thanks, I'll give it a try but having used the 17-40L it has a lot to live upto. The 17-40L being the best lens I've ever used that can afford at this time in my life.

I think i'll blow the dust off the olympus om10 or canon and shoot a roll. Maybe even look on ebay for some darkroom throw aways and process a roll just for the memory.

that's why i'm never selling the old little fm3a, every time we're on the trip the situation arises where it is easier to use it rather than change the lens on d200. keeps mind occupied so to speak... he he

I like the camera, you can turn everything off and go fully manual, or put it into A- or P- priority, or just go fully automatic. Manual focus is a great item, dramatically reduces shutter lag which is normally a major issue on these cameras.
All in some no-name bag from jessops, into which not much else will fit. I bought this kit to go on honeymoon with (we went to South America and the Galapogas Islands) and lightweight, all in one, fast easy to use was key. It was in 2002 so it was about the best kit around at the time.
