cant wait, since I upgrade every 2 years. I hope they keep CF cards though as stated in the spec, because I have rather alot of them.

Should be the jump from my 30d that the 40d wasnt.

I think the CF should be safe Craigg,the shift to other memory formats on the 450 and 1000d was just to keep those moving from prosumer bridge cameras happy when upgrading i think.
We should hopefully see the new 5d coming out soon too.

Only date I can find for the release of the 50D is spring next year but that probably just a rumoured date.

Got an email from jessops pre order the 50D. £1200 just for the body.
I think I would upgrade to the 5D at that price.

yep warehouseexpress emailed me about pre-order of £1200, but that wont be anywhere near the true cost, allow for 800 notes again I recon.

I noticed that warehouse also has a pre order price for the new 1000d that was more than the 450d.Now correct me if im wrong but the 1000d is a lower spec? So im hoping you are right Craigg,also ive heard a release date may be October this year.

Is one body only and the other including a lens? Pre-orders are normally for the body+lens as it's more expensive.

Ive just had look,the order price has now come down for the 1000d with lens is 80 odd quid cheaper now than the 450. In a mag I was looking in last month the WExpress add was showing a prw order price of more than the 450 lens kit. Let's hope they have over estimated the 50d in the same way.

Might start saving (anyone want some reef stuff??? LOL) might go to Focus in Feb, missed it this year, you ooften find someoneselling slightly below market cost there, big prob is only being 5'5" :o all the bigger guys tend to push in. :laugh:

I'm very seriously considering getting the much lauded successor to the 5D when it finally arrives and then I can use the 40D for sports etc.

There's really not much point in going FF unless you've got the glass to support it.

Still the 50D does sound nice.

most interestingly it's not a direct replacment for the 40d but its bigger brother in the same way that the 450d is not a replacment for the 400d ( or translated we have shite loads of 40d's sitting in warehouses unsold because the spec just did not justify an upgrade)

looks like it will be a good camera with a trully superior sensor to the 4xxD series for the first time since the 20d. I might start saving and get one in a years time once the price has crashed to £600 or so.

EDIT- F*** me just looked at the page £1200 is body only. £150 less than a 5d. Gee let me think. they really do mean it's not a replacement for the 40D. i know the price will come down but IIRC the 40D launched at about £850 body only and is now £600. which means the 50D should drop to around £900. it looks good but just not that good.
