Hi all, I've had this tank on the go for about 3 weeks now. Thought I'd put a thread up on the progress. Tank dimensions - 24inch x 15 x 12 + Sump - 18 x 13 x 25 Approx 30 Gallons in total. It's to house 4 H. Breviceps that are all currently being raised from the offspring of a wild caught broodstock, so I'll be receiving F2 juveniles hopefully by October.
I want this tank to look as natural as possible so I'm putting a few fast growing Macroalgaes in to effectively 'take over' as well as a few slower growers. I've went for a decent amount of lighting (2 x 24W T5 actinic and 4 x 24W T5 14K marine white) and mineral mud mixed with aragonite for the substrate.
Macroalgaes so far -
Caulerpa Prolifera - Growing very well from a 2 inch cutting.
Cualerpa Peltata - Again, great growth from a tiny cutting.
Chaetomorpha Aerea - Seems to have died back since introducing it. Will hopefully start to grow.
Solieria robusta (I think) - Hard to tell whats happening as it's a slow grower.
Scinaia Sp. - Appears to be growing. Which is nice.
Lighting on the sump is 2x36W PC with an inch and a half Mineral Mud topped with an inch of aragonite. Contains Chaeto which seems to be growing ok so far.
It sits in a relatively hot room due to the MH unit on my reef tank so the Temperature sits around 24C just now however I'm about to plumb the chiller (Hailea 150A) to bring it to about 20/21C.
Exciting stuff! I'll get some pictures up in the next few days.
