i would love a big cylinder tank but at £800 that would mean alot of shifts working for that horrid person i have to call a boss, so i am going to use my aquaone 980 soon as i want a bigger tank but i want a simple, modern looking tank that fits in with my room and the aqua one does not look like i want it so i am going to do my first bit of diy in my life and build it in. but inside the tank i want this sort of thing:

but i dont know how to do that to the wood, do i just cover it in a liquid plastic then let it set or do i coat it in supaglue gel? or can i just cover it in silicone and stick it in?

by the way has anyone seen the pics of seahorse tanks with parrot toys in them? how strange does that look!

Looks good as a room decoration, but not very practical for the horses. There is nowhere for them to shelter or hunt for pods etc. I think they would be bored and unhappy in there for any length of time :(

i will post a few picks in a sec as i have just made a sump but i am having problems with the balance of water at the min so i am still tinkering with the pumps but i think i have got it now after starting making it at 830am (got the day of :) )and think i have finally got it right now.

I agree with Linda's comments, the horses would prefur a more natural decor as they will spend a lot of their day hunting for tasty naturally occurring crustaceans to eat, its also important to have a few hiding places where they can retreat to and feel safe when they want to rest.

Not sure wood is a good choice for a salt water aquarium - even if sealed i'd still be worried about it leaching nasties in to the water.

yes i agree about that part but i cant find a single tank that i want to replicate or although i have been thinking about replicating the grass beds that i swam in in Kos this year as this is what made me go out and finally buy a tank after reading for 9 months but i dont know how to keep seagrass so i think a bit of reading is needed or has anyone on here got anyadvise about it as all i know at the min is that i need a 4 inch sand bed as a read something about it ages back but only remember thinking gosh thats deep sand

ok forget it seagrass is too much for my tank i will just put some macro into the sand and let it grow into a carpet along the back. maby when i have a bigger tank i will get seagrass
