Hi all,

I have been trying to take some shots of my tanks contents. However, its a corner unit-like the trigon 350 with the curved front glass. I am finding it impossible to get my camera to focus through this curvature-anyone have any tips? Thanks in advance!

make the camera so it only has on AF Point. Then focus on a strong line in the tank. say the edge line of a coral - so that the AF Point is half on the coral half on the rock behind. Try and get some distance between the coral and the thing behind it (say an 1" or so) This should get you round the issue! There are also some rubber type lens ends that you can push straight on the glass I have heard about, never seen or used though. HTH

it's not a Windsor 88 by any chance? i have one but it has my discus in it.

it is a bit of a pain you need to be at right angles to the glass at all times (which is true of any tank but harder with a curve) get the lens close to the glass and then zoom to frame the coral/fish. you can actually touch the glass with the lens but always zoom first as most lenses extend somewhat.

start with an ISO of 400 as the built in flash will be useless in this situation.

what kind of camera is it? if you can have a seperate flash it will really help to light the subject. You can get rubber lens hoods from ebay fairly cheap(don't search for rubber hoods as that's a different kind of hobby). you don't really need one however as all room lights should be of to minimise glare from the glass.
