Canon 430EX II flash

Hi, does anyone have any expirience with the Canon 430EX II.

I have seen that the flash is able to zoom in and out, but is it only able to do so when using Canon lenses as my most used lenses are Tamron?

It's been a while since I've owned a dedicated flash so please excuse my ignorance on the subject:o

I'm sure the flash is capable of zooming with all lenses, I know my 580 ex doesn't seem to mind if I use a sigma or canon lens.
