joshlib hi mate not had cam long & a total novice but i got no issues with it what so ever really pleased with all the pics i took so far battery life excellent imho. took over 1200 photos on one set ! image stabiliser seems spot on ,yet to try it in low light/flash mode and all my shots taken on the auto settings
macro and super macro awesome so impessed i off to college to learn how to use a camera properly lol. 18 x optical zoom v good and when used on a tripod even zooming to the max [inc digital zoom] shots are spot on and totally useable.http://www.ultimatereef.net/uploader/2008Q3/sat t5 130 (Large).jpg

hope i was of some help
cheers gary
nice shots, good captures.
to be critical, the contrast in the pics is off, they are either too flat or highlights are blown, plus in quite a few of them there is purple fringing, which Fujis are known for.
All that said, you say you are just starting out, and you have chosen a good bridge cam that you can play with and you got it for quite cheap too!
Keep up the good work!

thanks paul:thumbsup: any quick suggestions to correct this? to be honest i not even read the manual yet  typical bloke just got it out the box point & shoot any advice would be more than welcome :thanks:
yeah thanks mate going to purchase a camera tomorrow still unsure on which on
overall these are really good pics especially for just out the box - you defiantly have the eye for a pic. I especially like the spaniel.
there are two small criticisms i would make. mainly with the insect shots.
1. framing, you are cropping of some of the legs. bodies etc.
2. out of focus due to depth of field.
the good news is the fix is the same for both problems. pull back a bit taking the picture. With a 10mp sensor you have good leeway for cropping in a little later. Another good reason to do this is lenses are always at there worst at the edges. the increased distance will also increase your depth of field and get more of the subject in focus. However macro is one of the hardest types of photography so don't worry to much.
