Have been talking with a very experienced aquarist, who said that there is a way to create a circular effect in the fry tank - the chrysler effect!? Excuse my ignorance!!! Any designs out there?

Kreisel - german for carouselle. Some basic design requirements:- http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/nov2004/breeder.htm
Simplest practical design I've seen:-

De-luxe version:- http://www.fishlarvae.com/e/fishlarvae_gallery.asp?s=8717848850AAA&page=16.47&CNTID=100&type=2
Google "kreisel aquarium" for some comercial versions.

I use a small bowl (like a goldfish bowl) which stands in a small tank to maintain temperature. There is an airline into the bowl (no airstone) running at approx. 2 bubbles per second. The water is kept moving by the air bubbles, and moves in a circular motion because of the shape of the vessel. Seems to work very well :)

Forgot about that one, Linda - agreed, that's the simplest way to do it. Both of them create the circular current vertically - the circular tanks/round tubs I mentioned in your other thread do the same thing horizontally. It helps keep the fry from getting trapped by surface tension. Also, the fry naturally face into the current and food is brought to them by it - so their feeding efforts are more efficient.
