Which one is better?

Have either got any good or bad points over the other?

Can give you good and bad on the Koralia's as I have 4. Tunze were too dear for me!
Good Suction \ Holding, they have a magnet on the outside, easy to place anywhere and doubt they will fall off, Nice wide sweeping flow and very good value. The downside it, you can not pulse, or have on a wavemaker as switching on and off breaks them!

Reason I ask is because I have a Tunze Nano Stream 2025 and it is great appart from the part where it clips into the magnet, this broke very quickly and i have now had to milliput it to the magnet and can no longer swivel the pump!

I need another pump to increase flow and am unsure which I should buy!?

I use both (Koralia 2 and Tunze 6025). I cant complain about either of them. The Koralia 's even been running on a timer (15 second cycles) for the past few months without any problems. I cant really decide. Can I give a  for both?

I got a Koralia 4 yesterday and a Tunze 6055 as a tester really as people have said how brilliant the Tunzes are but for price comparison obviously the Koralia much more affordable if your buying a few.

Well in my experience and unless i have a faulty Tunze or the controller needs to be purchased for the best results the Koralia seems to be kicking out a great deal more so i have therefore ordered another 2 of them this aftrenoon.

People say the Tunzes are a quieter pump but iv had my ear at both  and there is absolutely nothing in it.

Cheers

I voted for the Koralia as it's the one I have. It was purchased over the Tunze as it was cheaper, has a reputation for being quieter and doesn't break.

The flow is very dispersed so if that's not what you want then the Tunze might be better.

Some interesting feedback already, Cheers all.

I have a koralia 1 and a koralia nano, both give me trouble. The impellor on the koralia 1 keep strying to reverse unless I have the head pointing downwards, and the nano gives out a deep vibrating noise from time to time. I've not owned a tunze nano yet but i'd be willing to pay the extra after owning these 2.

Koralia but only because of the price!

It used to be Tunze all the way, but the 'German' engineering is now made in China, so the quality has gone down a bit imo.

Maybe look at it this way:

So its German/China vs Korean!

Mercedes (which has gone down hill over the years) vs Hyundai (laughable, but very reliable!)

Oh yeh, don't forget the price ;)

I have the tunze nano been using it now for a couple of years, very happy with it apart from one thing, if it gets switched off, it will sometimes start up in reverse and suck water threw the inlet and throw it out the sides, but i have read this a few posts above about the koralia to. The magnet is very very strong, will hold on threw very thick glass.

not had a Tunze yet , but have got some Koralia 1s in my sons tank, the first one had to be taken back as it was making to much noise (looked as if the shaft was not true) it got swapped for new unit and has run for just over a year with no problems or noise at all. I have heard that the number ones did suffer from vibration problems but like I said mine got swapped so can't complane. also the whole starting backward thing I have not had any problems with, the unit always stop sucks it's self back in and starts in the correct direction for me, quite clever how it does it too LOL

Defo thumbs up for the Koralia IMO

I have Tunze 6025 and 6045's and have had no problems with either. Price seemed reasonable online. I'm a satisfied customer. Have not seen a korallia in action so can't comment much on them

The Tunze any day. I have both Hydor Koralia and Tunze. The Hydor Koralia makes a annoying knocking noise all the time, have tried to stop it bit keeps happening. Tunze is still whisper quiet and its older than the Koralia.

i now have a tunze & my inital impressions are that i prefer it over the koralia, the bracket moves further & the cable is much longer. The tunze is actually bigger than i expected though, certainly bigger than a koralia 1.

You should be able to get a free replacement "C" clip from your LFS or directly from Tunze as this is a known problem.

There is a thread on here "Nanostream C Brackets" started by MarkO which details the e-mail address for Tunze if you wish to write to them.

Thank you, I think I am going to get another Tunze soon so will bare this in mind incase the bracket goes on this one.
Apart from the bracket I cant knock the Tunze's at all, the pump is self is great.

I have Tunze & Koralia...

both are faultless when it comes to operation. The only problem with the Koralia is even though you can adjust the flow angle and such, you can get a better angle with the Tunze due to its clamp design. So if you have a very accute angle at which your trying to get flow the tunze is the way to go. The Koralia also extends out into the tank a slight bit more due to design.

all the new tunze have a new plastic which is suppose to resolve the breaking of the older ones C clamps.

However I have noted a couple of my magnets on the tunze nanos beginning to rust which shows they are not remaining water tight. This will cause the magnet on the inside to rust and release into the tank. The magnet will also swell and crack the casing which it is in causing a even larger amount.

Looks like tunze have another problem to resolve now....

if u get a tunze, keep the magnet away from watches and laptops.....bad experience... not that i had a problem with both, just one of them...

that is VERY worrying and i would be interested to know if this is an isolated incident as im mulling over what to get for my d&d nc24

a few years ago i would have reccomended tunze to my own mum but the more i read since they have switched production to the east the more it makes me want to look elsewhere?

i know its not either of the pumps you've listed but i use seio pumps, had a tunze nano but it was too noisy so took it back and swapped it for another seio pump, neverhad a probem with any of them, not touched them for about 2 years now.

Just as a point, when exactly did Tunze swith production to the east? As if buying second hand goods (as a lot do as they are so expensive) would it be wise to look for a 6100 as opposed to a 6101 etc?

I don't think theres a runaway winner out of these two.

I've owned both ( koralia 3 and nano 6045 ), and found both to be quiet enough, if i had to choose i'd say the hydor was the quieter of the two.

The tunze is more compact and more multi directional.

But i thought the flow was much better on the hydors, they had a much greater 'spread' of flow than the tunzes.

I have the Koralia 2 not had any problems with it and it is very quite indeed and build quality is good and solid. The angle adjustment can be a bit restrictive though. I Can't comment on the Tunze as I have never owned one, other than they are a bit more price wise, so I have to ask, are they that much as good again? I will say though that the Koralia has quite a wide spread and therefore may not be want some people are looking for.

i have 2 Koralia 1's and im very happy with them.very reliable and well priced, used to use the koralia nanos but found the fixing mechanism too weak.although the pump still worked a o.k....so make sure you spec the right pump.
IMO go for the underdog!.(Koralia)

I have both Koralia Tunze and they are both good for different reasons first they both work well. I find the koralia 3 i have is better for a wave broken wave movement. where's the tune 6045 has more of a straight direction and more of a constant flow. i suppose it depends on your needs really.

Hydor Koralia you can get them much cheaper and they work just as well

I got a Tunze 6045 the other day its one of the new ones with adjustable flow. TBH I am really disappointed with it. Its noisy and every time it starts the impeller shoots out grinds on the front grate and then goes back where it should be I assume this is to stop it starting in reverse but surely it shouldn't do it every-time it starts.....

I've ordered a Hydor Koralia which should arrive tomorrow so will let you know what I think once I've compared the two.

I don't think the 6045 is adjustable if you are talking about flow. The controllable range starts with the 6055 of which I have 2 on a 7095 controller. Very happy with them and although they do hum a bit when on max setting, you cannot hear it unless there is no ambient noise in the room.

IMO, they also look more pleasing on the eye than the koralia pumps. Performance wise tho, can't say as I have only ever had tunze.

I've got the new koralia's and you can use them with pulse / wave makers, the new koralia's have impellers and not shafts. There also smaller and more efficient than the old ones.

Tunze nanos.Takes a few minutes to remove from tank, take apart, and scrub clean.Wouldn't know they were running except the corals are moving in the flow.Had mine 9 years and still running 24/7.:D

Installed the Hydor today. Its quiet enough to leave on all night and although its not as powerful as the tunze it uses less power, its smaller and almost silent as well as being half the price so its a no brainer if you ask me.

I use both Tunze for directional flow and Korallia for surface movement, like them both. Downside broken 2 'c' clips on the tunze's and keep breaking the shafts on the Korallia when giving it its quarterly clean. I find both pretty quiet although I have had a noisey Korallia in the past. Best pumps I have owned were Seio's but they were just to bulky, compared to Tunze and Korallia.

Quick update. Having now owned both a tunze and a hydor AND had problems with both there is no way I would waste the extra money on the tunze as the hydor customer care is fantastic. I had a problem with the front grill coming loose on the hydor and within 3 days had a replacement turn up in the post.

without doubt id go for tunze. only the 6055's are pricey but seeing koralia dont have a comparable pump (controlability wise) i think its unfair to say there expensive. 6025's are not expensive and quieter than koralia. My koralia's both suffered with the impellor bouncing up the shaft, which was very noisy. The new 6015's are very cheap and 6045's now better value with the new flow control attatchment. One last word on this is the aftersales tunze provide with the warranty service and the complete spare parts catalogue available.

i have the koralia nano 1 2 3 and magnum six pump. absolutely bloody fantastic. there is no difference between the new and second hand ones i have bought. the flow is wide, massive sucking magnet, and currently on my set up they somehow are creating a surging effect in the tank, ( altough on 24/7) which is just awesome and looks more realistic than many wavemakers i have seen, lol so im not touching it atm!

I didnt go for the tunze as i have only heard bad from them on the forums, with the c- clip breaking etc some failing to turn on after a power-cut etc. so im now a korailia fan for the moment.

Dont get me wrong tunze are great! i have one of their skimmers. :)

koralias more noisy? unless the tunzes absorb ambient noise ill beleive that! mine are all silent as can be!
