View Full Version : Seahorse tank
Hi update on my new seahorse tank.
Tank size is 30"x30"x24"ins with deep sand bed and lots of caulerpa, I use Tonga living rock so as to give plenty of holding places for horses to hang on to. I have a pair of reidi about 5ins tall which are breeding. The tank is run with a sump 30"x16"x12" which is packed with living rock and caulerpa for filtration, my return pump is a aqua medic OR 3500 and i use a deltec mce300 skimmer but only for 2 days a week so as not to strip out the live plankton. My water params are as follow
PH 8.3
No3 0.0
No4 0.0
S.G 1.023
Mag 1340
Cal 370
Kh 8.00
Hi - sounding good mate. I always use the fact that they are breeding regularly as an indication they are happy, well nourished and healthy. How long have you had them now, do you mean they're breeding in your tank or you have bought them as a breeding pair? The calcium may be a touch on the low side but not too much to worry about as long as there are no calcium munching corals in there.
Do you have any pics of your tank?

Hi my mandarin is 2 years old as asked by sailfin, He is a male about 3" long he was kept in my reef tank since i bought him from swallows at harling.
He now lives in my seahorse tank as their is lots of live food for him to eat
Hi.....great pics of a nice crisp clean setup and lovely healthy looking seahorses ..........take notice of any advice sailfin has to offer as she is very good on seahorses and puts your mind at rest or points you in the right direction if you ever get worried (like me for no reason :o !!!) as I have found out in the past with my own ponies !!
