View Full Version : Display options - can I disable the "Illuminat. 1, 2, 3" ?

In the "out of the box" configuration, the display cycles through temperature, pH, and the status of the three dimmable lighting channels. If I haven't got dimmable lights and just plan to use timers against the sockets my lights are plugged into, do I still have to see the "Illuminat. 1/2/3 - 0%" message? Seems weird to tell me about three things I don't have connected. (Apologies if this is in the manual - I couldn't find it and I did look!)

yes you can, I did it, but for the life of me I can't remember how - other than it was one of the options on the PC software.

HTH

manually:
menu,
scroll to extras,
scroll to display,
scroll to select simu,
brings up the list.......
press the left of right arrow..... watch the O indicator on the left side. will have a dot in it when on, and look like an O when off.

the press middle button (enter)
says: save settings,
press yes.

done!

ps: scroll up and down the list editing that big O on the top left corner.
till all illumination channels read O (without the dot in them)

Or go to the display page in the software where you can click on/off the options you want to appear.

Ah.... I was in the right area - didn't think the lights would be under "simulation" though.

Cheers chaps.

This is just an example of how necessary a PC is with the Profilux, but don't take that as a complaint or negative statement, just an observation.

It's not "necessary" in this case though - it can be done through the front panel. It was just a case of knowing where to look!

No, not "necessary", but a darn sight easier!

i think anyone purchasing a GHL should be aware that it is a dawn site easier using a pc.
however i use an apple, so i've had to learn to use the GHL manually.
everything can be done manually, you just need to press a lot more buttons.
but the unit's are very easy to use once you get the ball rolling.

Can you do programmable logic using the front panel? I thought I had read somewhere that it was only PC driven. Given that the automatic water change requires use of the programmable logic that is one fairly big bit of functionality.

don't know..... (put simply)
plus theres a lot of firm ware, and up-grades that are pc based only.
but the majority of user and broader functions are simpe to programme.
ph, controling reactors
temerature, heating and cooling.
virtual probes
levels sensing
lighting, both dimmable and regular
dosing pumps
circulation pumps
various simulation modes etc

these are what the majority will use the units for.
as for other functions, i guess i can't comment as i don't have these (what you don't know doesn't hurt eh:D)

there are a few things that have to be done by pc and it is easier once you have found your way around
but i do tend to program whatever i can on the unit just to save me haaving to un plug ten cables as my pc is along way away
i need that LAN card lol
