Unravelled strands of the mud-based filtration request

The ecosystem forum request thread turned into a mish mash of a whole lot of different strands. It's probably our fault for not setting up the forum sooner, but I will endeavour to split it own into separate threads covering the various topics. Should be done by the end of the day.

The original thread has now been split into separate threads for each subject.

I have read through them all and they all look OK to me, but if something has gone awry and looks out of place please let me know and I'll try to move it to the correct thread.

Likewise, if you would rather a thread had a different heading then please let me know and I'll change it.
