The first batch of SMS units are now in the UK and will ship on Friday to retailers.

What can it do?

It will send a SMS to a preset phone number if one of these conditions occur:
- alarm
- powercut (thanks to the internal LiIon-battery with built-in battery charger)
- ProfiLux doesn't responsd (possibly dead?)
- digital input changes
- incoming call (password will be compared)
if you want it will be sent once, cyclic, at a certain time, ...

Up to 30 different conditions and/or phone numbers can be stored.

The SMS text can be defined by the user, if needed a status report can be appended (state of all sensors).

All settings can be done in ProfiLux Control, version 4.05:

The SMS-module will be integrated in the whole system seamlessly.

The address of the monitored ProfiLux is adjustable -> you can connect more than one ProfiLux to the SMS module!

The manual can be downloaded here:

Some useful hints and tips for SMS use:

1. If you are accessing the ProfiLux via PLM-USB or PLM-(W)LAN you must enable the router function (see manual under communication) if you want to communicate with the connected SMS-module.

2. Cable connection, the cables are not interchangeable and should be used as follows:
Grey - From ProfiLux to SMS
Black - From PC to SMS

3. Q: My ProfiLux control software does not show SMS?

A: Make sure you are using V4.05 profiLux control and V4.05 Firmware. On controller set COM1 to Router. Found under Extras - communication - COM1. This is done ON the ProfiLux NOT the software. Also in the connection set up in profiLux control, select SMS then save.

4. Q: SMS-module stops working (or resets) when connecting to PC or ProfiLux

A: The battery is still too low - give the device some minutes to charge the battery, then connect it

Get your orders in asap as the stocks are still low for this new product.

One other unique feature of this unit is that it has 4 digital I/O inputs. These can be used by the budding DIY'er to create their own sensors.

the inputs look for a voltage between 5 and 24 volts (polarity should be observed). These could be used in simple circuits to create leak detectors, cabinet/door sensors etc .... receive an sms if someone tampers with your system or breaks into your outside fish room! The possibilities are endless with this.

Although the unit uses the RS232 port on the Profilux, a spare RS232 is on the unit to connect to a remote display or PC.
