View Full Version : Beautiful Blue Gorgonian and Seahorses
Has anyone kept a Gorgonian with Seahorses? I saw this amazing light blue Gorgonian today in my LFS and it was incredible. The only thing that held me back from buying it (although I was very close) was that I had potential issues in both of my tanks. One of the tanks has lots of seahorses that would probably hold onto it and the other one has a Coral Beauty that I thought might nip at it. Has anyone tried a Gorgonian with either? I so wanted it but common sense took hold for a moment as it is too nice to ruin.

But I've got 10 seahorses!!!!! :)

A generalisation but as a rule gorgonians require good water circulation - usually more than an average seahorse tank has. I suspect that the constant use as a hitching post wouldn't do them any good either.
John
PS: How long has your nano been set up triggerfish?
PS: If the gorg is blue then probably one of a few species that are definitely non-photosynthetic which means you have to be pretty dedicated wth the correct foods (and equipment to maintain good water quality) in order to maintain them. Have a read of the non-photo section on here for more info re foods etc.

i have a purple gorgon and a silver with my seahorses they are doing fine the seahorses dont seem that interested.the only problem ive had is with my mithrax crab he pick.s at the purple one
Thank you everyone. I've decided not to buy it in case the seahorses kill it. I've also been reading up on them and it seems that they are very difficult to keep alive. It was beautiful though. :(

A very good decision imo - the blue gorg would have been a nightmare to keep alive without the coral beauty and sea horses so well done for not giving in to temptation

Thanks Jon. It was so tempting but I was strong. :) Let's hope that it goes to a good home.

What are the light requirements for gorgs? :)
