Hey thought I would start a thread about my seahorse tank. I had my tank at the beginning of August this year. It was brought for me as a present from my boyfriend. He already has a tank in my room and I have wanted seahorses since as long as I can remember.
So I had an Orca450. I had a pair of H.Barbouri seahorses on the 19th Sept from SH.:D They are absolutely stunning creatures and more importantly they are captive bred so I know that my love of seahorses isn't affecting the fact that seahorses are becoming more and more endangered. They also feed on frozen mysis which is a huge plus. These are some of the first photos of them.

Hi,they are lovely.
Filefish and Peewee are lovely as well.
I know the RSM is bigger, but the River Reef's are meant to be a really good tank, and they are twice the size of the Orca, and are now cheaper than the Orca's too !
They started off at £139,now i have seen them for £98.
Might be a cheaper upgrade for you ?
Julie.

Arrh i'm glad I have inspired someone to own such a beautiful creature. You can have more fish with them than you think. As long as the horses are able to get enough food or you are willing to target feed them. Slow moving fish are the best.

My boyfriend chose his name

I'd be interested in how the filefish gets on too as I wouldn't have considered putting one with seahorses before. It is really gorgeous.

He is very placid and slow moving just like the seahorses so he doesn't pose a problem with stressing them out.:)
He is also a slow eater...slower than the seahorses prob because he has such a small mouth.
He is eating frozen mysis so i'm happy with how he is keeping at the mo...just hope the good luck sticks as I know how hard they can be too keep.:(

He is a longnose filefish, you dont see them very often. I think me and stefni picked him up for about 25 quid, we thought that was real cheap. They are very very difficult to keep tho. They eat acapora and sometimes if your lucky you can get them to neat live brineshrimp.:annoyed:.
Abit of a strange fish really!. But he is very very nice:wub:.

As has been said before simply stunning!!

I'm in the process of setting up a new tank and moving inhabitants of my Orca TL550, once I've done that I'll be rebuilding the Orca into a SH tank (I considered other stocking options but the missus keeps talking about the SH tanks we saw at Xcaret on our honeymoon in Mexico so I'm surprising her as she has no interest in my tanks so far, this may be a spark to ignite a love of Marine life in her)

You have every right to be proud of what you have achieved there and no doubt a good allie when I come to setup mine ;)
