I have quite a large gorilla crab in my tank, up to now he hasn't done any damage but as he is nearly an inch across and knocking corals over it is time to catch him.
I have a MM sump, can I put him in there or will he disturb the mud too much?
do you have any other sections in the sump like a compartment with live rubble or something? I had a small hermit in the mud section and it didnt cause too mush disturbance. Stick him in see how you go but would it be an easy job to get back out again?

I've put 5 or 6 crabs of various sizes in my mm sump and haven't noticed any disturbance.
They even climb the baffles sometimes into different compartments!
I'd lob him in,better than being in your display.

Thanks chaps, will give it a go. Quite a small sump so won't be much of a problem to catch him again.
I sumped a crab a couple of months ago and he hasn't disturbed the MM too much at all. Only quesytion I have is on whether its a bit cruel as he is exposed to 24hour lighting. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

I thought about that but there's plenty of cover within the macoalgae and I've also got a cryptic area which is full of rock they can go to.
I wouldn't worry about them, they're lucky to be sumped and not flushed imo.
