What a year 2008 turned out to be for TOTM. There's certainly no let up for 2009 so we're kicking off this year with another stunning tank. Congratulations John on being the first 2009 Tank of the Month here on UltimateReef.

A worthy winner of TOTM
Congratulations with the tank, and the passion you have for the hobby
Lovely looking setup.
Do the fans on the sump keep the temp stable? Do you vent externally?

Thanks to all for the kind comments,
The fans just help keep the temperature stable if it gets high outside of the summer months the main temperature of the system is controlled in the summer months by the chiller.
that is a wicked tank mate , love the sump thats how its done
Well done Lost boys, you must be proud, the tank looks so much better since the rescape.

If the corals continue to grow like they are there will be another on the cards.
Why?
if you are happy with it leave it alone. Let the corals grow out and as required take the clippers out.

One or two having some fights and i would need to find some decent clippers that do not rust or go blunt quickly but maybe.
If i keep the look need to find some corals that like being low down as i feel the look along the bottom line needs to be looked over.

Tank is growing out very nicely indeed John - looks super and a credit to your hard work.
Your narrative is quite general though and I'd have certainly liked to have seen some more detail. Just an example but why is it that you rate the Fauna Marin skimmer that highly over the previous models you've used? You say you've encountered a number of problems over the years. Are there any that stick out in your mind and what were your solutions? Any tips and tricks that you've tried that were a roaring success and which could help others?

Thanks John,
Regarding the skimmer i have had Deltec models and did find them very good as well as other models but the reason why i rated the FM skimmer is the level and quality of skim it seems to pull out the system seem to be higher then any unit before it, that said i have not tried newer models since i have had this and i may find that new models are an even bigger improvement.
Regarding problems, there have been many but i would say one that sticks out is impulse buying, not researching why i brought something, just buying it without first finding out if it will be a benefit or if it will fit or cause issues.
I now do a lot more research then before and this is one thing that UR has helped out in a massive way.
:thanks:
Look good John, that rearrange of the rock you did probably helped clinch it for you. Congratulations.

Can not take the credit for the re-arrange as it was mentioned to me by another UR member so that credit has to go to them.
