I have no experience with that model but I have a Canon DSLR. I recently read a report in one of the photography magazines about it and it was very positive.

As a photographer, I can highly recommend the canon range - I use them! However its important to understand what you want in a camera. For example, do you want a camera to just produce simple photos i.e pics of tank/family etc? or do you want to gt into the complex world of photography with exposure settings, apetures etc etc. If its just a camera pure and simple that you are after-then I'd recommend a simple compact digital type-canon do these too which will fulfill all your needs. If you do want to get into photograpy properly-then obviously you will need a digital SLR camera (DSLR) such as this canon. But remember that they are more time consuming and complex to use and understand. They do have "idiot settings" but if you use these - then why did you bother buying the camera in the first place as you are not reaping the benefit of a DSLR.
Its also worth noting that the camera body may be inexpensive-but this is irrelevant, as good lenses are never cheap! (for example my 100mm macro Canon lens cost me £400!)If you put a cheap lens on any DSLR, your pics will suffer greatly. You will also need more than one lens! The best zoom ones Canon do are their "L" range, these generally start at around £1000+!
In my opinion, you cannot go wrong with any canon model, compact or DSLR-they are all good!
If you have any questions-just pm me and I'll be happy to help.
Hi
I do think I would love to have more professional looking photos etc.
I now have photoshop and I am doing training in Feb, so a good camera would compliment this :D I have found this 1000d camera for around £315 with the standard lens, which I think will do fine for me for a while, but I would like to invest in a good macro lens some time in the future :D
Thanks for all the good info
Canon DSLR's everytime for me!! ive had a 350D for a few years now and its a brilliant bit of kit!!
When you are finally looking to buy, you'll want to look here (http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/prod660.html) for a good price.. a very useful site.
Plus.. I think there is still a £30 cash-back on this model from Canon for another week or two yet..
