Hi just getting the stuff together to set up an ecosystem sump using mineral mud .What is the process to go through adding it it to an existing tank.Do I just set it up and connect to the tank after letting the mineral mud settle for a couple of hours or do I set the sump up and cycle it for a time.I will be capping the mineral mud with aragonite sand and was thinking of adding a couple of cupfulls of sand from my main tank to seed it
Cheers Bob:)

Hello,

Look on this link, download the filter manual and read pages 11-12 I think. :)

I'm going to be doing the same on my nano soon and the plan is to set up the hob and then start running water from my main tank through it. I think the benefits will only be seen after a few weeks when it all starts to mature. I am hoping that the PO4 remover that is in now and has been for a while will start to remove less as the fuge starts to take over in order that I can eventually run without it .

I wouldnt bother with capping the mud with the sand. Basically put the mud into the filter compartment using the methods described - plastic sheet pour water into compartment allow for the mud to settle and then connect up the filter to the main tank. I placed a few cupfuls of old substrate from my old set when I was closing that down.

If you want any caulerpa let me know as I am going to be harvesting this week - I have lots of the stuff
