I like the 2nd shot but the first doesn't do anything for me.

The sun is too bright and distracts from the rest of the picture, especially the nice sand patterns and mix of light and shade on it.

yeah i hear ya, it totally reflects how bright it was tho!

i have a bunch of pics of it coming up, i might chose some earlier ones before it blows its own highlights :)

Cheers for feedback

I like the first one, think the sand patterns are lovely.

Nice pics - but, if being critical of the first I'd say "Should I be looking at the ship, or the sand, or the castle, or the sunrise?" All are worthy focus points, but all of them together are a bit much and I get confused, plus is the horizon straight?

Likewise with the last pic of the castle - the sky and the reflection vie for my attention! I'd prefer one or the other.

Obviously, and as always, completely subjective though - must have been nice (and cold?) to be up at that time of the morning to even get a chance at those shots.

the last pic of castle is lovely and it did look cold

cheers for comments

it was pretty cold this am, the horizon is straight, it looks a bit warped because of the land mass on the left side

one last cold and fuzzy one, just before sunrise

Don't have time to get out with cam much these days, so this morning was a nice change :)

Think that last one is brilliant, although i do agree the horizon does look a little slanted.
Where were they taken?

Holy Island (Lindisfarne) and Bamburgh - Northumberland

I both really like like that shot and I don't, love the colours and angles but not sure about the amount of black space on the left, can't make my mind up.

it was actually really difficult to get a 'clutter free' picture of this castle as there is a bunch of crap light streetlights, barriers, signs, roads, cyclepaths etc around. I did the best i could, i was going for a clutter free shot, and i think the empty night sky adds to this shot imo, the negative space idea was defo done on purpose

Shame for digital really, bit of local shading when developing the first sunrise shot would have been awsome. Nice pics though

Love the last shot by a country mile over the others. The first is to bright IMHO.
