View Full Version : Interfaces in the pipeline - Koralia - Dali - Aquaray?

There are a few GHL Profilux interfaces that are in the pipeline for release this year.
There will be a Koralia pump interface, so you will now have an alternative pump control system to the Tunze controllable pumps.
Dali - which is a lighting control standard and allows more control than 1-10v dimming on compatible light ballasts.
Aquaray?? Is there a demand for an interface to dim the TMC aquaray LED lightbars. It is possible as the developers tests have proved, I would just like to guage the demand before the interface is developed, so let us know on this thread.
We currently don't have delivery times on these interfaces, but like all GHL developments that are promised, they will be delivered working and reliable.

Another interested here for the dimable aquarays.
I have made my own - works a treat! Would've been easier if there was one already though!

Count me in for dimming aquarays. PFO Solaris had a computer which adjusted for day length and moon phase for a defined long/lat.:whistling:
Might as well be ambitious...:)

You will be able to dim them as you can with current dimmable lamps to the moon phase for a given Long/Lat.
Day length is something I hadn't had requested before, because people tend to like to know when their light will come on. I'll add it to the wish list though.

They are starting production of the interface next week, so I would expect them to be available for sale in the UK in about a month.
They will work in a similar way to the Propellor breeze control which fits between the AC adaptor and the unit, with a control feed to the Profilux 1-10v port.
I'll update this thread when we have exact pricing but I would imagine around £30-35.

Hi Steve,
I'm looking forward to these, just wondering if theres any more information yet - I'm setting up and am trying to workout where I can fit things.
Are these going to be single dimmer controls fitted between each aquaray and its PSU or will they be available in groups like the dosing pumps?

They are just like the fan controllers and are single units that fit between the power supply and LEDs.
They are on the latest price list we received this morning and as a result will be available from our next order at the end of the month.
UK price will be in the region of £49.99

How many £49.99's will I need for 10 strips, 5 PSU's, not five surely:eek:

My mistake, too many new products I am adding at once. (corrected my post above that was the estimated dali ballast price)
You will need 1 per dimmable LED at £31.99ish but really once you have the lights on additional dimmable lights really do not add any benefit.

I was thinking about cost obviously, but more about the number of damn boxes I have floating around near the tank. If I wanted to do moonphase simulation could I get away with just one dimmer and a blue aquaray? If I also had a single marine white to fade in/out the daylight, I guess that would cover it?

I have no idea of size yet, apart from they are similar to the propeller breeze controls that are about 60mmx30mmx15mm not too large at all.
I don't think size is really an issue, but a blue/Red Led and then one white would do more than enough.
It really seems to be the gentle introduction of light that has the most beneficial effect, once live stock is awake increases in light have little effect.
This is certainly true in some of our larger installations 50,000 ltrs plus (yes that is correct- current UK largest is 2.5million litres running GHL) where they are using large dimmable t5's to introduce light gradually. Once light has been initiated there is little difference in behaviour after switching on 1000w halides!
Natural shark behaviour is finally being observed after introducing moon simulation and some of the less desirable and ultimately harmful reactions have been nearly eliminated.
Sure, our tank occupants aren't going to become predatory, but it really helps with jumpers like wrasses. Once initial light has been introduced/reduced to 1/4 level I see no reason to increase further from there.
I also switch of my halides in turn during the day as most photosynthetic corals have taken/absorbed enough light, a one hour rest period in turn from my 400w halides has not only reduced energy consumption but imo increased growth.
Wahhhh, where did that ramble come from... yes they are small enough to not worry!!!:laugh:

i think tmc plan to launch a controller box in the future and im sure ghl will simply make a connector for this as i would guess there will be a seperate box that all the aquarays fit to with a posh screen, remove the screen hey job done :)

GHL already have that??? I posted a few weeks ago about the possibility, to guage interest. It is now in production, along with Dali and IO ports for the DIY experts... If a multiple dim box is available, you just know GHL will have one available! :)
Seriously, within a few months this controller will be able to tell you when your misses has walked through the door and opened your wallet to find those fishy receipts... actually it can already do that with the SMS...lol
Already we have 140 stock products and with new variations of the T5 lighting for Dali interfaces I expect that to double!
Ohh joy it took me 2 days to do the stock take this week, any volunteers for next year???
Steve.

RE the aquaray controller - do you need 1 per LED strip or 1 per PSU? Also, is there a way to pre-order?

The power supply unit will plug into the interface which will then plug into the led unit. So you will need one for each power connection to to the LED strip.
I haven't got a twin aquaray, does it just have one power connection or one per strip?
Steve
There are 2 power connectors on the twin, so you'd need two. Would've been better to have a twin version as it could end up quite expensive.
Will this new dimmable unit/addon apply to all LED's units or just the aquarays?

Any chance of an interface card which can provide multiple PWM outputs ??? There seems to be an increasing number of DIY LED projects out there and I'm considering doing one myself. The PWM outputs could then be used to control the dimming of the driver circuits etc but with the benefits of the GHL controlling the lighting cycle(s).
