Hi

Your site mentions that some of your brine cysts are:

"N.B. please note this stock is not suitable for decapsulation"

Could you help me understand what this means please?

Is this suggesting they are already decapsulated?

Thanks

Hi - not decapped already - the advice originally came from the processor. This note needs to be developed further to say not suitable for decap if you're aiming to subsequently hatch them. Such advice will vary from year to year depending on the harvest/strain characteristics; for e.g the most recent GSL harvest cysts have a potential issue with thick egg cases meaning hatching effeciency could be compromised - lets see! In most cases (perhaps all) the cysts can be decapped for direct feeding unhatched. Most of the Basic Plus is likely to go for aquaculture farm use in the short term. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any further questions. Cheers
