Can Someone help me out with Apature and exposure abit pls?

i'm not fully sure what apature is, and have a rough idea about exposure, but i kinda think these two areas are quite key in getting good shots, and making the picture crisp.

I have a Pentax K110 SLR and i'm not really sure how to change the apature and the settings. i seem to get tinted colors on pictures either really blue or really "orangy" and i want niether i want what i see lol.

i've changed the settings a little bit and had a play about to get some half decent shots but i have a feeling i'm doing somthing wrong or just not doing somthing i shud be.

Any help wud be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tom
