I'm after another digi SLR and am toying between these 2.

The new canon 1000D or a used 400D. Roughly the same price. What would you buy?

Looking at the specs the only difference seems to be the auto-focus monitoring. It's 9 on the 400D and 7 on the 1000D

Make sure you handle them both.. the ###D series Canons are quite small bodied.. you can find a refurbished 30D with 18-55 in the same price range (taking a 1000D as about £310 new body only).. note, a refurbished 400D with 18-55 and a 12-month warranty can be bought for under £300.

What lens(es) does the 400D come with, and what lens(es) were you thinking of for the 1000D?
